Navigating Transition 1 – Windshields Not Rearview Mirrors

When you think about it, it’s what we do at the intersections, the crossroads, the transitions of our lives that either lead us toward our destination or away from it.  If we want to navigate these transitions well and want to reach our ideal destination, we will have to train ourselves to let go of the past in order to fully embrace the promise of the future.

While we can learn from the past, we cannot live there.  We cannot move forward while gazing backward.  We will get stuck and stay stuck if our cherished memories of the past energize us more than the dreams of our future.

There are three principals that will keep our gaze forwards:

  1. Replace comfort for curiosity

  2. Refuse to be a victim of our circumstances

  3. Relinquish the past and embrace opportunities for new memories
